A. I am from Illinois but I am currently in SC where my husband is stationed. Last I knew, it was legal, or else we drank a lot of it illegally. Try calling your local liquor store or bar. I am sure they would know!! Good Luck

How to make apple pie shots with a liquor other than everclear?
Q. I want to make a couple gallons apple pie shots, but i live in ohio and everclear is not leagal. Every recipe ive seen calls for 1 gallon apple jiuce 1 gallon of cider a few cinnamon sticks and a liter of everclear. I want to use another liqour but i dont want to make it too sweet, so does anyone have a recipe for some with maybe like bacardi 151

Yes!, it all goes down to your own body and what it can can handle, whether the drink was distilled, brewed or fortified, and what the drink was made from, the chemicals involved in the process...etc. Gin, for example, is made from juniper berries, long used as a depressant, other forms of alcohol are an anti-depressant, like tequila and rum is basically just pure sugar. Basically, different people are affected different ways by different alcoholic drinks. For me personally, I can drink beer or white wine all day and rarely even suffer from a hangover, but hit me with hard liquor, and I'm a dribbling mess that night, and suffer for it the next morning. You just have to learn what you can handle, and it's all trial and error.

I really enjoy a drink called "hand grenade"... sooo delicious. and you can hardly taste the alcohol if made correctly: *1 1/2 oz gin * 1 1/2 oz grain alcohol (everclear) * 1 1/2 oz melon liqueur (midori) * 1 1/2 oz rum * 1 1/2 oz vodka mix all together in big pitcher with ice. add water and sugar to taste! enjoy! i also pour it in sonic slushies. you can't taste the alcohol in that either.

A. the previous answer is mostly correct. everclear is usually about 190 proof (95% pure alcohol) it has virtually no flavor but is very strong. to make a liquor like vodka, grain is distilled into almost pure alcohol (pure alcohol is 200 proof) and then water is added to it to bring it to the strength desired. everclear has little or no water added to it.

Q. I know everclear is dangerous and should not be bought. I had that stuff, I will never drink that again. You can taste it and fill the burn. I also didn't like that notice "Keep away from flames" I am surprised it is legal in the U.S. the liquor store told me it more stronger then the illegal moonshine some people make. A. Everclear is a strong grain liquor where no water can be removed by distillation. Vodka is water and alcohol that's been distilled. Everclear has alot more alcohol in it.

A. its not the beer that gives you the hangover, its the mixing of alcohol types. Stick with a single type all night and you will suffer less in the morning. It seems I have to be more clear about htis... Any alcohol of inferior quality has the potential to give a person a wicked hangover, brown, vodka, or whatever. Beer is no different and does not result in a worse hangover just because its beer. If you find yourself with a bad hangover of any kind drink better quality stuff.

Making Everclear Schnapps?
Q. My friend makes this Schnapps type thing and it's made with Everclear. I get really queasy with hard liquor (More of a beer type myself :D) and this stuff drank like water. Needless to say it was hard to judge how much I was having and it creeped up on me fast. Does anyone know how to make something like this? He didn't want to give it away, it's a secret family recipe or something. :P I remember him boiling some sugar, water, and flavoring, letting it cool then adding the everclear. Anyone know how to make it? It was really good. Thanks!

A. Yes it is easy. This is about infusing flavors, which alcohol does very well. You can infuse anything from lemon to chili peppers to herbs. Here is how it works 1. Get a clear spirit ie vodka, white rum, or everclear. 2. Dump in a large clean jar. 3. Add in your flavoring agent, ie slices of peach or lemon zest. 4. Let it sit for at least 3-7 days. 5. Strain liquid back out into the bottle. You can use simple syrup (2 parts sugar 1 part water, dissolved in a pot on your stove) to add some sweetness. I always keep this in my fridge for mixed drinks. You can also add more water as needed to bring down the heat. Now you have a whole bottle of your own schnapps. I will be experimenting with this myself, and posting my notes on… [cont.]
