From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Drinking is the act of consuming water or a beverage through the mouth. Water is required for many of life’s physiological processes. Both excessive and inadequate water intake are associated with health problems. PhysiologyA Canada goose drinking.A daily intake of 3-6 liters of water is required for the normal physiological functioning of the human body, depending on ambient weather conditions and diet (especially salt and sugar intake). The absolute minimum over the long term is about 1.6 liters (600 ml for urine, 200 ml for fecal losses, and 800 ml for losses via the skin and lungs). This includes water contained in food (i.e., it is not essential to actually drink 1-2 liters of water a day for survival, though it is often recommended for good health). The sensation caused by dehydration of the body is called thirst. The sensation of thirst is a dry feeling in the back of the throat and an intense desire to drink fluids. Thirst is regulated by the hypothalamus in response to subtle changes in the body's electrolyte levels, and also as a result of changes in the volume of blood circulating. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License Is drinking a rasberry iced tea or lemonade the same as drinking a carbonated soda? Q. I want to lose weight and i have stopped drinking soda(sprite, coke, Sunkist), is it equally as bad to drink Hawaiian Punch and stuff like that? Does the carbonation in soda do something the other drinks don't? Asked by slipcubusknight - Wed Mar 19 05:33:50 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Yes, it's just as bad because the drinks you have named off, like Hawaiian Punch and most Iced teas are loaded with sugars. If the sodas you listed are the only ones you drink, they aren't as bad as cola, which also has caffeine. Although I'm not sure, but some orange soda (I want to say sunkist is one) has caffeine. If you are looking for a healthier drink, water really is the best way to go. Answered by Koosher - Wed Mar 19 05:37:58 2008 What alcoholic drinks do women enjoy drinking? Q. I would say vodka and red bull but its actually been made illegal to sell because aparently the vodka slows your heart rate down whilst the red bull speeds it up and could cause a heart attack!!! Just a bit of information for you :) lol Erm...drinking games...I've played a couple of fun ones like 'have you ever' you ask questions like 'have you ever... gone skinny dipping' (questions can get mutch more interesting lol) and whoever has, has to take a drink, so its a fun way to find out what people have been up to, as people seem to be much more willing to share when they've had a few drinks down them! lol Another one called 'flip, sip or strip'… [cont.] Answered by Anna Freeman - Fri Jun 13 12:17:55 2008 Does drinking coffee replace or lessen the addiction of drinking alcohol in alcoholics?
Q. Does drinking coffee help reduce the addiction or daily cravings of alcohol. Can one develops an addiction to coffee? (from the caffeine) Will the coffee addiction ever have a chance of switching over from alcohol to coffee? This is for a research paper on an experimental analysis of behavior treatment. Asked by andy a - Mon May 19 08:13:54 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. The act of drinking coffee will not replace the craving for alcohol and it will not lessen it. Addiction is the unrelenting physical and mental need for a mind altering substance or high. An alcoholic in recovery has to be vigilant about not cross addicting, which is what you are touching on. And coffee, in large amounts, is a stimulant. So is tobacco, which is why so many addicts smoke. Addicts that gravitate toward 'stimulants', like coke or meth, diet pills, etc can take off with coffee or energy drinks. Also, any addict can cross addict to a whole different area, like gambling, sex, video games... It's the mind going to unhealthy amounts of something to escape. Bottom line. If someone is 'addicted' to caffeine (and I wonder… [cont.] Answered by mozefnme - Mon May 19 15:56:15 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "drinking" Penn State mascot cited for drinking, suspended - The Associated Press
