How long do i deep fry frozen chicken strips?
Q. They came in bulk. Lost directions. Frozen. Want to deep fry in veggie oil. How long on 400 degrees?
Asked by Wendy S - Sun May 31 20:30:18 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. 400F sounds too high. You'll end up burning them before the insides really warm up. I suggest 350F or 375F. Deep fry about 5 to 8 minutes. Take one out and see if the center is correct... if not fry another 3 to 5 minutes.

What is the best deep-fry batter I can make for chicken strips, with the ingredients I have?
Q. So, I want to make the best & preferably easy deep-fried chicken strip batter I can with the ingredients I have. Here's what I have: Milk, Eggs All Purpose Flour, Seasoned Bread Crumbs Salt & Pepper Paprika Onion powder, Garlic Powder Crushed Red Pepper & some extra vegetable oil that's not being used in the deep fryer. If anyone could help me put together a good batter recipe for chicken strips (with the ingredients I have), I would greatly, greatly appreciate it. The more suggestions and ideas, the better! I have been using "Zatarain's Chicken Frying Mix" "Crispy Southern Style", but I really want to try something different. I also have Aunt Jemima pancake & waffle mix and I heard that was fairly good as a batter, but I haven't tried… [cont.]

A. Pancake batter is very close to regular batter for frying. I don't see that it would hurt to try it...sounds interesting. Here is my recipe for batter... 1 1/2 cups milk 2 eggs 1 1/2 cup Flour 1 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon pepper 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 tsp paprika whisk it all together, let it set for about 5 minutes before using. Just remember to let your oil heat well before frying. You can test it to see if its ready by letting a drop of your batter fall into the oil...if it bubbles right away (without splashing back on you...if it does splash back the oil is too hot, reduce heat and wait five minutes) and floats within seconds, it's ready.

Can you deep fry frozen breaded chicken strips?
Q. I happen to have the deep firer out from the other night, and was wondering if I can put frozen breaded chicken strips in the firer? I also have some frozen potato wedges. Thanks OK cool, yeah I don't actually have the chicken yet... I'm wait on the schwans man to get here!
Asked by Allen - Tue Aug 25 15:58:12 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes, I do all the time. If you thaw breaded, frozen items, the breading falls off in the hot oil. Be careful putting the items in as the oil will boil up a little. Place an item in the oil and wait until the oil starts to boil up before placing a second piece in the fryer. Don't overload it either so the food will properly cook and brown.

How do you like your Tyson boneless buffalo chicken strips? Deep fry or Oven?
Q. The title says it all. I am just wondering, for those of you who like Tyson's boneless buffalo chicken strips, how do you prefer to cook them? Deep-fry or Oven? I have tried both & love them both ways. I'm leaning more towards the oven as my first choice, but I think that's because they seemed just a lil' more dry in the deep fryer. I think that's because I overcooked them just a bit.

A. Honey Chicken Basically this is no different than any other Chinese chicken recipe. The chicken is first battered, deep fried and then coated with a thick sauce. You can use a wok but I really recommend deep frying the chicken bits when using a batter like this. The sauce is a delicious mixture of honey, garlic, and ginger and rice vinegar. Serve with white rice. Ingredients: 1 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into 1 chunks) Oil (for deep frying) Batter- 4 tablespoons cornstarch cup flour 1 teaspoon baking powder cup water teaspoon salt 1 egg 1 egg white Sauce- 1 tablespoons oil 2 teaspoon ginger (minced) 3 tablespoons garlic (minced) 1 teaspoon salt 3 tablespoons honey 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar cup water 1… [cont.]

Why does my deep fryer overflow?
Q. I used to cook with my deep fryer all the time, but I never remember it doing this. I just tried making onion rings, french fries and chicken strips. The onion rings and chicken strips were covered with a light batter. The french fries soaked in water for about twenty minutes, and then I dried them. No matter what I put in, the oil would foam up and overflow. I had to keep messing with it by raising and lowering the basket. What is it that I am doing wrong?

I've decided that i'd like to make these chicken caesar pita type thingies for dinner tonight (basically, i'm making a caesar salad, then laying some down, with grated parmesan and all, on a large pita and then putting a long, breaded, deep fried, white meat chicken strip on top, and rolling it up into a wrap), and I have no clue what to serve it with. How to cook: Chicken for Mexican?
Q. Say, I want to make Mexican food tomorrow. Hard or soft tacos. And I want to substitute Ground Beef with Chicken. So either strips or cubes of chicken. 1: What do I buy when I go to the store? What's the exact name of the thing I need to buy? Is it something I order at the counter, or is it in the cold area with the Ground Beef? 2: How do I cook it? 3: Do I cut it up and then cook it? Or cook it, and then cut it up? 4: Do they sell pre-cooked diced or strips of chicken? (I tried to cook chicken once, and it went horribly, horribly wrong. Ironic, since I deep-fried thousands of chicken when I worked at Wendy's.) -Boil chicken? Really? And it takes a few hours to cook? -I have Taco seasoning, but it's for Beef only.

A. I do this all the time for my family. Just buy some boneless skinless chicken breasts at your local grocer, nothing special about them at all. I boil 3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts for about 30 minutes in regular water (pull one out and cut it to make sure it is done). Once cooked, shred the chicken (I use a couple of forks to shred if the chicken is still hot), put in the skillet, add the taco seasoning and water as directed on package (you can use the taco seasoning for beef or buy the one for chicken - I have been using the beef one for years as they did not have a chicken one until recently and never had a problem or complaint). Prepare the rest of your meal as normal. I hope this helps!

Does anybody else like turkey all year round?
Q. I like to buy a turkey breast frequetly during the year and fix it in different ways, like deep fried breaded turkey strips. Hubby and I like turkey salad sandwiches, not just as a left over from the holidays but all year round. Anything you can do with chicken, you can do with turkey. (I haven't tried turkey with dumplings yet but I plan to.)

A. To me and my family, turkey is just like chicken. They have turkey breasts and legs precooked in containers, just like they do for the chicken.
